Oral Hygiene
UFAROL TCL 92 Dental Grade marketed by Unger Fabrikker A.S is a SLS in dry form suitable for use in all types of toothpaste and mouthwash where the aim is to incorporate typical cleaning and foaming characteristics seen in modern oral care products.
Brushing teeth with toothpaste has for many years been an effective weapon against tooth decay and to prevent discoloration as well as masking bad odour caused by sulphurous chemicals naturally produced in the mouth cavity. Dental plaque can be formed by a mass of bacteria that form an insoluble carbohydrate which if not brushed away regularly can be calcified and cause Tartar. Oral bacteria may liberate chemicals called thiols causing Halitosos (bad breath) and acids produced by the bacteria can lead to Caries (cavities). Other toxins liberated by the bacteria may cause gum irritation such as Gingivitis.
Although several of the above issues can be solved by just brushing customers are expecting a toothpaste to foam as this is perceived as part of the cleaning performance. The foam also has a practical effect as it helps maintaining the toothpaste inside the mouth and avoid dripping.
In later years manufacturers have developed several types of toothpastes with specific properties due to particular customer demands for effects against particular mouth and teeth related problems. These days it is common to find toothpastes designed specifically for effects like bleaching, odour control, anti-bacterial effect, milder types for children, abrasive additives etc. Almost all of today?s toothpastes sold however would contain Fluor in some form as has proven its effectiveness in maintaining healthy and strong teeth.
